Everything helps. [He beams, bright and sunny, happy as anything.] I'll put them to good use next time I have to fight a monster in the dark. That damn dullahan...
[He glances around.]
Oh, uh, do you want to come in and see the place? Or do you have to go?
That's true, but I for one think Lady Dansara will be very pleased.
[He motions for G'raha to follow him inside. It's a fairly nice house, all things considered: surprisingly spacious for a bachelor, and decorated in a clean and modern style. There's also just... not a lot of furniture yet, what with two empty bedrooms, but the important rooms where they live and eat are decorated enough. It seems like every other wall has a colorful South Asian touch, and a few of the walls are painted deep red or dark blue to break up the monotony.
The centerpiece of the living room (which also has an older TV, currently not on) is an upholstered couch with a voluminous amount of pillows and brightly-colored tapestries, big enough to sleep on. There's a door leading to a recently remodeled kitchen at the other end, and one more room they've yet to see, but he'll get to that.]
Do you want anything to drink? I can put something on the stove if you're famished.
[oh that's right!! Raha won't object any further, nodding with a smile and following him in. He really isn't sure what he's expecting, but what's in there isn't it- but it's a very pleasant sort of surprise. It's the kind of colorful that he'd be unlikely to put the effort into having but is very happy to see, and the amount of pillows just looks like it would be perfect to drop into.
Also, curry. He has roots in that part of the world, but also... he grew up in the UK. He might have to introduce Amal to curry fries at some point.]
[Amal nods and steps into his kitchen for a moment. He starts up the electric kettle and reaches up into the tea cupboard. After a moment of consideration, he goes with a nice black tea with a bit of bergamot. He sets out two mugs. A minute or two later, the kettle finishes getting the water to the proper temperature; Amal pours them both a cup and sets the tea to steeping.
Then he pops out.]
While that's steeping, let me show you the rest of the house.
[There are two empty bedrooms, which Amal makes a note of mentioning he can choose whichever he wants for when he moves in-- and Ghaleon's room, which Amal walks past. Amal's own room is painted dark red and covered with tapestries on the wall. The bed looks big and comfy, more of a pillow nest than a bed, and he has quite a few outfits of various types visible in the open wardrobe. A dresser and the displays on top hold all of his jewelry, most of which is bright gold. Another table in the corner has... everything else: a sword and shield enchanted to throw sparks and ice both, harmlessly; several daggers of various shapes and lengths; another short sword; a couple sets of chakrams (one of which looks to be enchanted to glow slightly); at least a dozen stiletto knives for throwing; and one curved jhambiya that looks far too shiny to be an antique.
There's also a lyre on the wall and a lute propped up against the corner of the dresser.
Rogue roots showing strong here.]
Here's my room... and there's one more. The basement's empty, so we're just using it for storage at the moment.
[Finally he leads Raha to the last room in the house, which is a family-room sized room with thin carpet. The presence of a giant ball, weights, a bike, and a mat indicate it's some kind of exercise room. But the other side has a bunch of comfy low cushions, a big mirror, and a bright bronze dance pole parked perfectly for practice... and entertaining, if one so desires.
There's also a door leading outside.]
If you have any other suggestions on what to put in here, let me know. I just kind of... asked someone at work what I should get and so we have this. The pole was my idea, though.
[Most people would probably find the weapons collection surprising, and while there is more to it than Raha imagined, it also fits perfectly well with what he knows of Amal. The glowing chakrams in particular gets his attention, but he doesn't really have time to look given that there's the whole rest of the room to contend with.]
It's really lovely. [And the pillow nest looks so comfy. Maybe he should start collecting pillows.
He can't help but let out a little laugh with he sees the pole, the blush back on his cheeks even as he grins at Amal.] I believe that. I don't think I'd be much help with ideas... I'd likely just put books everywhere.
[And comfortable seating for when he'd inevitable fall asleep reading.]
Thank you. [He practically preens at the compliment. He is very proud of his collection, but he's more pleased that Raha likes it.] I never really had a permanent place to stay, nor did I ever want one, but... I don't know. I felt like it was time, since I can't find the way home.
[Anyway, onto the fun part of the house. He returns Raha's bright grin.] Books certainly have their place, but I'm afraid in here they'd be more like furniture.
... Have you given any thought to moving in? I'm still practically a stranger, so I understand if you need more time to settle in. Or you can tell me not to bring it up again, and I won't.
[He is in so deep and no one has any idea. He hasn't even told Rhel because it just kind of popped out of his mouth... but having Raha close would make it much easier to keep an eye on him. Amal's never been very good at keeping his heart out of the mission, unfortunately.]
I... [His amber eyes shift to the side briefly.] I just don't want you to be struggling, being new here and all. Gods know I had to start from the ground up myself, and it wasn't always sunshine and daisies.
[Raha is tempted to mention that he's lived here a while, that though he's new to the various complexities that seem to come with the app, living in Kaisou is a newness he's already adjusted to. But Amal's just so... earnest about it, and it doesn't really matter since his answer is the same.]
If you're sure it's alright, then... yes, I would like to. But please don't worry about me, if that's what's driving the offer. I'm sure I'll be alright.
R-really? [He looks a little surprised, but happy, and he nods.] I mean— I'll talk to Ghaleon and let him know. After that, well, you're welcome to move in at your own convenience. Just give me some warning so I can help haul things. [He grins fangishly.] No matter how many books you've got, I can take it. Moving things was one of the ways I made coin when I first got here.
[He places his hands on his hips.]
I know you're a sturdy sort and can take care of yourself. You've made it this far, after all. But... that doesn't mean you need to do everything alone, you know? It's a lesson I'm still learning, admittedly...
[He pauses, then remembers--] Ah, the tea! You can meet Dansara after. [And then he takes off running to the kitchen to finish up the tea.]
It'll likely be after the semester's over... given that I've a million papers to grade between now and then. [And then SOMEONE has to go take a stupid long nap--
He watches Amal dart off to the kitchen, following after him a bit of a slower pace to take in the place again as he makes his way back there as well. He'll take the tea with a small 'thank you,' cupping his hands around it and smiling at Amal.]
...I really do appreciate it. I hope you'll give me the chance to help you as well, at some point.
I'll be sure to dust the room before you move in. [That's funny coming from Mr. 'I napped and the world ended'!!! But what's fair is fair. β₯
He adds a little milk to his tea, something he picked up after being around Alisaie for so long...]
Oh, Raha. You've already helped me by making the glasses! [He smiles, and there's something fond to it.] I'll warn you, though... I've been known to be something of a magnet for trouble. Are you sure you can handle that?
[His tone is light and airy, and yet there's some truth to it...]
That hardly counts, it was a gift. [That doesn't actually make it not count, but also it's not really the kind of help he meant.
He chuckles a little, taking a sip of his tea.] From the sound of all this, there is plenty of trouble to be had. Better that we stick together for it, isn't it?
I'm glad I at least won't be a total nuisance, then.
[He's smiling as he says it, taking another sip. It is still strange to him, how endeared he is to Amal in the short time knowing him, but he's... not actually very worried about it. It's just very comforting, in an odd way.]
