I can't claim to have your nose, but I had my own suspicions. One time I surprised him, and I swear I saw something under his hood... like two little ears trying to stand up in the back... Not to mention that devious little smile, which I had seen on numerous occasions. I don't know any other suspiciously short men with connections to the Crystal Tower except for maybe Cid, who is taller than me.
[He shakes his head.]
But our deception, hopefully, will be very short-lived. Like you said, I think the choice to learn more about the truth should be his to make.
[Rhel has to giggle at the though of G'raha being taller than anyone other than the twins. He's almost as short as she is.]
And wait we shall, and if he expresses any interest then I think we can easily handle that...and given that it is G'raha, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't start asking questions the second he finds out there are questions to ask.
He can levitate, too? He's holding out on me... I haven't seen that yet.
He's really gunning to take Y'shtola's place as know-it-all sorcerer, huh?
[It's weird talking to a near-stranger about things like this, but not bad. He's been keeping it all to himself this whole time, going at it alone, but... having someone to just vent to is... it's nice.]
[He smiles, a little sad but mostly fond. He missed them dearly, and G'raha not remembering anything is... bittersweet.]
Speaking of thaumaturgy, have you been able to get more of your spells back? I'm guessing you're actually a Black Mage if you're anywhere near as strong as I am.
Oh, yes, I've the jobstone and "special permission" and everything. No new spells, at least not as of this month. I can't even seem to switch between astral and umbral without casting, most annoyingly. You?
I've got about half of my strength back, and my endurance. Found that last one out when I got hit by a truck a few months ago. I also managed to find my dancer job stone—if I lost it, Nashmeira would have my hide—and I can use it, but the most advanced techniques using aether are still closed to me. Even if I do the steps, I can't channel energy at all!
[He sighs.]
I also have my sword and shield, but I don't have anything to show for the time I spent training to be a paladin except some flippy sword tricks. In a fight, though, I'll be better on the front line than you since I can take a hit.
When I've fought monsters here, I've mostly just been an annoyance. Impossible to kill, even if I'm not doing the damage I would at home.
Alphinaud can take hits better than I can at times, so yes, please, do take the lead should we ever fight together.
[Someone is squishy. But that talk of being a paladin...hm.]
I wonder if I can apply what I learned from Stephanivien to the handgonnes here...they look extremely different, but I can't imagine "aim, ensure the safety mechanism is disabled, and then pull the trigger" changes, regardless of shape.
I'm your rolanberry. [He winks.] I spent my first six or seven moons here doing chores for whoever would pay me, and that includes the Underground, so I know my way around.
Any preferences? Do you want something big and obvious with more distance, or just a handgonne you can tuck somewhere relatively discreet?
Discreet, I think. Stephanivien had to modify the gonnes he gave me to reduce their recoil as it is, and honestly, can anyone picture me with a giant gonne?
[He puts on his best Alphinaud impression, complete with accent.]
'Ah, yes, well. As it turns out, you are our good friend G'raha Tia! Archon, Student of Baldesion, and intrepid Scion of the Seventh Dawn, who took a very long post-supper nap and then saved a world or two.'

[No, she's not letting him ever live that down.]

We just have to wait.

He's already asked for time to answer his questions about our world. I simply haven't told him he's part of it.

He's asking for lessons about thaumaturgy. If I had any doubts before...

[He groans.]
Why don't I know a cool spell to stop time?

As if Shtola would ever let him. He'd show up with a newer, fancier spell and she'd just bop him on the head with her staff.
[Twelve, she misses them. It's nice to reminisce.]

I don't see why not. [He laughs.] Hilda tried to get me to learn how to shoot, but it wasn't for me.
Do you need help getting your hands on one? I've got connections.

That'd be lovely. I have no idea how to navigate any of the bureaucracy here, and I don't want to rely on Zodiac if I don't have to.

I'll get you something you can stash in your robes somewhere.

You're a dear, Amal.

I'll check on our amnesiac, surprisingly round-eared friend after my shift and keep you updated. Does that sound good?

[Gods it is SO WEIRD to see G'raha without his ears, though.]

Great. Between the two of us, we should be able to keep him out of trouble... hopefully.

Rather prone to reckless self-sacrifice, too, so if you could perhaps avoid that while we're here, I'm certain we would all be better off.
