[Varian made a point to stay with Amal on the 30th of May, this was mostly so he could get up as early as possible to get everything set for the morning of Amal's birthday. He's gone to the trouble of making Amal's favourite breakfast, laying the table for him. He's baked a cake too, and that sits carefully on the side for later.
A box has also been carefully placed on the table, a new silk beside it. As soon as Amal is up and and around the house, Varian will be herding him into the kitchen to show off all his hard work. ]
